Don’t cut your own journey short

The news from Colombia that 76 people, including most members of a Brazilian professional soccer team, have perished in a plane crash is startling, frightening, and utterly tragic. There aren’t enough words to describe the horror of this accident, but I have a few on living.

Living well isn’t easy, and I struggle with the right mindset as many people do. Life is hard, and keeping it all in perspective is harder. It’s awful that a moment like today is often required to help us see it, but we cannot let it pass us by.

Take a minute today, before you forget, to think of one thing that’s going undone in your life. One priority that you thought could wait. Move on it. Whatever it is. Don’t wait another day. Chapecoense Football Association was on its way to a continental championship game, in a Cinderella season. Their journey was cut short, through no fault of their own. I’m looking in the mirror as I read this back to myself: don’t cut your own journey short.
